Following the Opening Conference participants of the conference are invited to join the first AURA Methods Workshop. The agenda for the Workshop is:
- What is a research object? In the natural sciences, an essential feature of collaboration is determining the research object in advance; in the humanities, the goal of research is to discover the research object in the process of research. How can we navigate across this contradiction?
- What kinds of curiosity about the natural world can draw together natural scientists and humanists? How will we work across differences between the observational commitments of ethnographic method, on the one hand, and the big data revolution, on the other?
- What really matters for sustaining life on earth--and what should be the commitments of scholars in this challenge
