About Elaine Gan

Art director in the Aura-project

Elaine plays at the intersection of digital media, environmental anthropology, and feminist science studies to explore new ways of sensing and mapping time. In her art practice and doctoral research, Elaine looks at technologies through which different modes of encounter and coordination may emerge between species. She joins AURA to build an experimental web platform that diagrams species/landscape assemblages as a manifold of intermingling temporalities. Currently, she is mapping a/synchronicities between rice, nitrogen, planthoppers, and viruses that shaped the green revolution in Southeast Asia. She is also collaborating with anthropologists and game designers on an interactive fungal clock.
